TKL: Does TKL Knowingly Allow GMS to "Smear" Other EP Candidates.... on TKL's Blog?

TKL: Does TKL Knowingly Allow GMS to "Smear" Other EP Candidates.... on TKL's Blog?

"All my statements on the other candidates are positive. … There's no need to blow up their negative points, take their action in a most negative way. There's no need to." – TKL, in an interview with Yahoo News Sg

... but we know TKL’s sheepish tactic.

Although he may not make those statements himself, TKL has been posting articles by others which are critical of the other candidates on his own FB/blog.

Examples of postings attacking the other candidates that TKL has linked on his blog are as follows:

  • http://tankinlian.blogspot.com/2011/06/cpf-cut.html
  • http://tankinlian.blogspot.com/2011/06/track-record-of-dr-tony-tan.html
  • http://tankinlian.blogspot.com/2011/06/candidates-for-presidential-election.html
  • http://tankinlian.blogspot.com/2011/06/president-who-will-speak-up.html

With others blow up the other candidates’ negative points on his behalf, of course TKL can pretend to be honourable.

But is he?

I now suspected TKL practises an underhanded tactic too!

Most of these articles listed above are written by a blogger who goes by the nomenclature “Aurvandil”, a fervent SBF forummer.  Often, I have read of forummers who openly declare that Aurvandil is Goh Meng Seng’s alternative monicker.

Of course, it would not surprise you guys that GMS also hangs around those cyber-quarters very often.  He is quite infamous there.

Notice that Aurvandil’s first blog entry was on 14 May, after the GE. I suppose GMS was quite free by then.

This suspicion that they are the same person is reinforced by how Aurvandil seems to be often praising GMS or reminding people of what GMS has done or said.

These can be seen in Aurvandil’s comments at TOC, Sammyboy forum and even on TKL’s blog as follows:
  • http://theonlinecitizen.com/2010/03/breeding-a-subsidy-mentality-in-housing/
  • http://theonlinecitizen.com/2010/05/nsps-sec-gen-will-not-take-up-ncmp-seat/
  • http://theonlinecitizen.com/2010/08/gulfstream-jet-for-yog-flame-at-what-price/
  • http://www.sammyboy.com/showthread.php?78293-MBT-Admits-Tampines-Is-Very-Dirty/page3
  • http://tankinlian.blogspot.com/2010/04/affordable-housing.html

And need I mention that GMS has stated that he will “try to help Mr Tan Kin Lian out in his Presidential Campaign as much as possible.”

Acting as TKL's venomous mouthpiece is a way to help TKL and hopeful appear as a political angel.

Although what I have presented above are not conclusive proof that Aurvandil and GMS are the same person, one should wonder at the high degree of coincidence.

Should we now question TKL whether he knows who Aurvandil, the person doing TKL’s dirty work, really is?

Email exchange with Presidential hopeful Tan Kin Lian

I had an email exchange with Mr Tan Kin Lian recently and I am posting the exchange here in its entirety without any edits whatsoever.

Basically, Mr Tan had emailed me and asked why I had posted negative views about him, and I replied that I had not posted any negative views about him; that all that I had done was to re-post his own views which he had expressed in 2005, and the views of a letter writer, who disagreed with Mr Tan's views.

I must state for the record that although I am inclined towards Dr Tan Cheng Bock as my choice to be the next elected President of Singapore at the moment, (I haven't decided for sure, as Dr Tan has yet to get his Certificate of Eligibility to stand in the next Presidential Election) I have no personal feud with Mr Tan Kin Lian and have no intention of smearing any Presidential aspirant.

My intention in posting some of Presidential hopefuls previous comments and in asking them hard questions, is to contribute to the debate that Singaporeans are having as to who they would have as their next President.

For example, it was me who asked Dr Tan Cheng Bock pointedly, if he still felt the 'Marxist conspirators' were guilty. The question to Dr Tony Tan, 'you have won damages from opposition candidates who contested against PAP.  What is your view on using defamation suits to quell opposition?' is mine.

I hope through such hard questions and by placing the past comments/actions of the hopefuls in the spotlight, the electorate would have a peek into the mindset of the Presidential hopefuls.

---The Email Exchange---
TKL: Ravi,I find that you are taking a stand against me. It is all right for you to support TCB but it is not necessary for you to post negative views about me. I refer to your podcast here and to a few articles that you have written.http://pdfcast.org/pdf/penalise-those-that-resign-early-says-tan-kin-lian

Ravi: Dear Mr Tan, thank you for this email, but I did not post negative views about you and neither is the podcast linked here my views. These were your own views and the views of another letter writer to the Today Newspaper in 2005. I merely linked your own views and the rebuttal you received for expressing those views on TOC's FB. If you deem that they are negative, they are not my making nor the making of TOC. I expressed my own views here on the 3 presidential hopefuls: http://www.raviphilemon.net/2011/06/why-dr-tan-cheng-bock-is-still-my.html, and I believe I did not make any disparaging remarks about you; and that my observations on you were fair. I personally feel that all voters, have got to know the views of the Presidential hopefuls better, to make an informed decision come voting day. Although at this moment I do have a leaning towards Dr Tan Cheng Bock, I do not know yet if I would support him for the Presidential election, because he has not gotten his COE yet. But even then, my leaning towards TCB is my own and not that of TOC's. TOC may put out an editorial on the candidate for the Presidential election once the COE has been issued. I also hope that this email is not an attempt at asking me (or TOC) to self-censor our views, opinions and reporting which you perceive may be harmful or damaging to your bid to be the next elected President of SIngapore.

TKL: You have posted a few negative and unfair views about me. I know that you support Tan Cheng Bock but it is not necessary for you to be hitting me - especially in this podcast - where I do not have the chance to give a reply.

Ravi: Mr Tan, now you are just making assertions without any basis whatsoever. As I have pointed out in my earlier reply, what I have posted is NOT my podcast, I have NOT posted any negative or unfair comments about you, neither do I have any intention of 'hitting' you. Unless you have some proof of this, I would suggest you not make baseless accusations such as this, which attacks me unfairly. If you wish, you may post this email exchange in its entirety on your blog and so have your chance to give a reply. Thanks.

TKL: I have said my piece and do not wish to engage you further on this matter.

Cease or he will Sue

This guy has real problem with managing his profile. His efforts to erase his past with the PAP by downplaying his various roles he held with it goes towards addressing his own integrity. He has repeatedly made claims of his independence, repeatedly highlighted the association of the other candidates with PAP shows how dishonest he is.

When I first revealed his past, I did not use the term dishonest but his pattern of behaviour does indicate it. The Straits Times will never reveal or highlight the political importance of such roles of Branch Secretary or the Chairman of the Citizens Consultative Committee and this chap had capitalised on it.

He was one of very first cadre members of the party, a position he held for 30 years until one year after his retirement. You can only become a cadre in the early years if you are trusted and regarded as a party inner and not merely a follower as they select the all powerful CEC.

Get this - he was a PAP member and a PAP cadre member long before Tony Tan and Tan Cheng Bock became a member and pulled up their first pair of White pants as an adult. He has also being a member of the PAP for a longer period than both of them.

How he is now claiming to be an independent and pretends no association with the PAP is beyond me. Despite making some passing remark of the PAP, he has never revealed the intnal abuse of the PAP such
- use of the tax payer funded grassroots organisation to further the cause of the PAP
- does not reveal how grassroots are used by the PAP to campaign for them
- never revealed hoe many cadres are there or who they are despite the first question raised by someone in his own blog by asking the person who raised the question to ask an appropriate question
- never revealed anything at all about the PAP except that he felt their values have changed.

The other two candidates like many MPs were asked to join after being offered a slot as a candidate for the Parliament. He however volunteered to join as a member.
